About the performance:
The Marriage of Figaro is the third performance of our trilogy. It might be surprising that a comedy follows Lev Tolstoy’s Kreutzer Sonata and Fyodor Dostoevsky’s Crime and Punishment. But as Pierre Beaumarchais said, we need to learn how to entertain.
We laugh when watching a comedy, but it doesn’t mean it has less to reveal.
The hidden secret of the genre is its social connotation. Comedy is a specific genre because we are entertained but strongly empathise with the characters at the same time.
Laughter liberates and promotes healthy principles of life.
