Nino Surguladze

Designer

Nino Surguladze graduated from Tbilisi State Academy of Fine Arts
Faculty of Film & TV design (Dimitri Takaishvili class).
Went to Jakob Nikoladze College of Fine Arts (Gia Bugadze class)
Attended New York University (NYU-Tisch) theater design classes
Attended classes and afterwards held lectures at the University of Tennessee ETSU.
Since 2004 is working mainly with Levan Tsuladze as a stage and costume designer
(In the Basement Theater and later from 2011 Kote Marjanishvili State Drama theater).
Together with Levan Tsuladze participated in international projects such as 2012 Globe to Globe Festival - performed "As You Like" and Romano Theatre Bologna – Tartaruga.
The magazine "Guardian" wrote about Nino's work - "There is a shambolic chic to Nino Surguladze's costumes and it seems that an exuberant milliner has ensured no deserving head go without a hat.
Number of personal exhibitions and Nino also participated in several group exhibitions;
Nino Surguladze also works with various film and theatre directors, worked on number of set-productions in short and documentary films.
In 2015 her work was presented at PQ in Georgian National Pavilion curated by Nina Gunia – Decamerone, Dress under name: Desire and Decamerone.
In 2019 participated in PQ “Emerging Artist Talks”
2019 Photo project “Hamlet now” for Tbilisi international Theatre Festival Magazine
Nino is one of the organizers of TAF (Tbilisi Art Fair held in 2018 & 2019).

Nino Surguladze started working with Levan Tsuladze at “The Basement Theatre” in 2004.
First play was “Oscar” followed by “Cap of invisibility”, “Figaro”.

On December 2014 Nino Surguladze's costumes exhibition was held in Marjanishvili Theatre Basement where thetre costumes were presented.

In 2015 her costumes were exhibited on Prague Quadriennale.
